Beltane Blogging

I love this time of year, the bluebells are out the birds are singing and nesting. The nights are brighter which means walks in the evening along the coast.

Best of all though its Beltane. All the festivals have marked times in my life and I'm sure this is the case too for everyone. The times can be pleasure, happiness, pain and sadness, but these emotions and experiences make us who we are.

I have been taking the opportunity during the Maiden Mother Crow weekends to take the group to the beach for a fire. It brings the energy to a different level that is required at the end of the day to help process the work and transformation that they are going through. The fire gives voice to the letting go and then a flame to the desires of the future.

The building of the altar and the fire becomes a joint effort, with collecting the wood and dry seaweed, words are very often not spoken and almost its a meditative state we all go into. There is a joint willing and focus to get that first spark and then to keep it going.

We drummed this time with our various unique beats, that released and raised the vibration within.

Jumping the fire in Beltane spirit sends the messages to the ancestors that we are still celebrating although it may be a little different to the a way they did. But that is how it should be, the celebration for our times that has evolved organically from theirs.

Beltane Blessings!
